Biography - Elizabeth Clarence

Elizabeth Clarence is a British mezzo-soprano, based in Glasgow, known for her rich tone and poised stage presence. She is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) where she earned a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance, studying with Kathleen McKeller-Ferguson. She was generously supported by a RCS Trust Scholarship to help her continue her studies through a Continuing Education programme post-graduation.

Elizabeth’s operatic highlights include La Traviata (Chorus) with Opera Holland Park during their 2025 season. In 2023, she made her solo debut as Mamma Lucia in Fife Opera’s performance of Cavalleria Rusticana. Elizabeth is delighted to work with Fife Opera as a member of the chorus for their upcoming production of La Boheme, late 2025. She was also a member of the 2023 Dorset Opera Festival Chorus performing in Le Roi de Lahore (Massanet) and Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart).

During her time at the RCS, she performed in Opera Scenes as Carmen (Carmen) and Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte). She also performed as 2nd Cretan Woman and as part of the chorus in the Alexander Gibson Opera School’s production of Idomeneo.

On the concert platform, Elizabeth has performed as the Alto Soloist for the Samling Institute & The Durham Singers performance of J.S.Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium at Durham Cathedral. She is involved with the Glasgow Bach Cantata Project as a soloist and as part of the chorus. Before her move to Glasgow, she was a member of the Halle Choir in Manchester and performed in many concerts such as The Dream of Gerontius at the BBC Proms in The Royal Albert Hall, London.
